Agartha Version 1
Muckross, also known as Morqual’s Throne, is a Wood Elf town located on a southern island in The Copse Isles. They have a deep religious tradition based on the worship of Morqual and his messenger; a great salamander that lives in the lake that Muckross is built around. The Wood Elves who founded Muckross were originally nomadic but upon discovering the existence of the Great Salamander in the lake, that they soon named Salamander’s Lake or Panatog, they began to construct a town around it. A massive tree siting on the lakes edge became the center feature of this town and is known as Morqual’s Antler. The lake is relatively small but its true depths have never been measured. Legend claim that there is no bottom to the lake but instead a portal that allows the Great Salamander to travel to any body of water in existence. The Great Salamander himself is the most iconic part of the town, its image appears everywhere and the town relies on its guidance. The 30 foot long salamander has many abilities and has been know to protect the city in times of need. The Wood Elves also rely heavily on their mastery and understanding of nature, allowing them to use powerful natural magic and allowing them to use the plants to construct architecture. As a result Muckross is more of a city that was grown than constructed. Shamanism also plays an important role in life for the Wood Elves and it relies heavily on an ability to work with nature to accomplish many things. This kind of natural magic and understanding is essential to all that live in Muckross. The city is different from the other city-state capitals in many other ways too, for example Muckross is the only major city in Agartha that does not use gold as a means of commerce instead they rely on barter and trade of services.
Governance System: Theocracy
Ruler: The Wood Elves of Muckross worship Morqual and see the Great Salamander as his greatest messenger. They have a council of shaman who interpret both the will of Morqual and also the guidance of the Great Salamander. The council is made up of the three oldest shaman in the town; currently that is Scarloc Mirdoron (Male, Wood Elf), Len Gala (Male, Wood Elf), and Drycha Iren (Female, Wood Elf). Large Town
