Agartha Version 1
Malaca is a desert oasis that often attracts criminals and other notorious figures, thus it has earned the nickname Thieves’ Haven. The city is famous for its engineers who develop amazing technologies and architecture. One of its most notable features is its deep underground freshwater river that runs to the sea. A tunnel has been built around this river to allow ships to travel to the city from the ocean and a man-made lake, known as Athas Harbor, has been constructed that acts as a port. The tunnel, known as the Malaca Pass is a mile across and the water runs deep enough in it to carry the largest of ships. For a fee any ship can travel through the Malaca pass, this system is added by giant sea turtles which pull the ships in the pass(travel times range from 6 days to 3 days depending on the amount travelers are willing to pay). Athas Harbor is massive and well exceeds ports seen at any other city of Malaca’s size. The city also has many underground tunnels that allow people to travel around the city without traveling under the beating sun. Other tunnels allow the city to have indoor plumbing and extensive irrigation systems. The series of tunnels underneath Malaca have been described as maze like and many legends exist about these tunnels. It is in these tunnels that Malaca’s thieves guild is said to exist, it is the most public of all of the thieves guilds in Agartha and is affectionately known as “the Den.” The city was founded by nomadic desert dwellers who settled in the area when they discovered the underground water source. Malaca’s engineer’s technological knowledge and inventive skills have not been limited to peaceful endeavors. They are know for to develop some of the most amazing and horrifying weapons that Agartha has ever seen. While the city is not known for traditional weaponry they are known for these new weapons that often blend together magic and technology.
Governance System: The city relies on a direct democracy with an elected mediator who helps mediate policy discussions and also acts as the city’s chief diplomatic representative to other countries. This position is known as the Chancellor of Discourse, and is addressed simply as Lord Chancellor.
Ruler: Vogan Kurdial (Male, Human)
